Delete Candidate
Permanently remove a candidate record and associated data from your hiring pipeline, with deletion steps and key precautions to take first.
Deleting a candidate
Deleting a candidate permanently removes the candidate record and associated data from your recruitment pipeline. Use this when a candidate should no longer remain in the hiring process and you are ready to remove their information for good.
Deleting a candidate is permanent. After you confirm the deletion, you cannot restore the candidate record or any associated data.
When to delete a candidate
Delete a candidate when keeping the record no longer serves a hiring or recordkeeping need. Common cases include:
- The role has been filled and the candidate was not selected
- The candidate has withdrawn their application
- The record is a duplicate or test entry
- The candidate has asked you to remove their data
- Your internal retention or deletion policy requires removal
How deletion works
You delete a candidate from within the job and stage where the candidate currently appears. Once you confirm the action, the platform removes the candidate record and associated data permanently.
Open the job
Go to your dashboard and open the job you are managing.
Select the stage
Click the stage that contains the candidate you want to delete. The candidate list for that stage opens.
Open the candidate profile
Select the candidate to view their full profile and information.
Click Delete Candidate
At the top of the candidate screen, click Delete Candidate to start the deletion process.
Confirm the deletion
When the confirmation dialog appears, review the action and click Confirm.
Verify the result
The candidate is removed from the pipeline permanently. The candidate record and associated data are no longer available.
Before you delete
Review anything you may need before you confirm deletion. Once the candidate is deleted, you cannot return to the record to retrieve information later.
Before deleting, review the candidate record and download any records you need to keep, such as transcripts or notes.
Use this checklist before you proceed:
- Review the candidate's information one last time
- Download any records your team needs to retain
- Confirm you are authorized to delete candidate records
- Check your organization's retention and deletion policies
What data is removed
Deleting a candidate removes the candidate record and its associated data. Depending on what exists in the record, this may include:
- Videos
- Transcripts
- Notes
- Ratings
- Candidate profile information
Data security and compliance guidance
You are responsible for making sure candidate deletion aligns with your organization's policies and legal obligations. If a candidate requests deletion, follow your internal process and required response timelines.
Deletion cannot be undone. Confirm that you have reviewed the record, saved anything you must keep, and verified that deletion is appropriate before you continue.
